Robin Cameron is a sixth generation Armidilian and is a descendant of the McLennan family from Kilcoy at Scots Corner near Wollomombi. After leaving school at PLC Armidale she started as a working pupil at the NEGS Riding School where she was to remain for over 30 years, rising to the position of Director. Robin rode her horse to work and home again each day until she was old enough to get her drivers license. While working at NEGS Robin had two trips to England to gain qualifications (not then available in Australia) as a riding instructor and in stud management. She has been a member of the Armidale Horse and Pony Club since 1963 and represented the Club, Zone and State on many occasions in riding, show jumping and eventing. She also competed in the Melbourne to Sydney Harness Marathon in 1987 and has competed successfully in many horse endurance rides including the Shahzada 400km ride. She was nominated as Zonta Woman of the year in 1992 and in 2006 received the Armidale Service to Sport Award. On leaving NEGS, Robin began part time employment with the Dangar Street Vet Clinic and in May 2006 became a permanent member of staff. Robin seems to know almost everyone in town! Robin is married to Lyall and they have one daughter Rebecca.
Jody has been working at Armidale Vet Hospital since February 2006. Jody especially enjoys surgical nursing, and is very talented in handling feisty cats, perhaps partly because she is owned by one called Mylee! Jody also has 2 gorgeous Border Collies named Pollyanna and Chiyo and a husband known as Westy!
Tina Wolverson has been working with New England Veterinary Centres for three years. She joined the team as a veterinary nurse upon relocation from QLD where she had worked in private practice and at the school of veterinary science at University of QLD. Tina has qualifications in animal behaviour and runs the Anamazious Dog Training clinics, as well as conducting the Centres' puppy pre-school activities. Currently Tina can be seen at the Armidale practice on a Monday and Friday.
I was born and raised in the Armidale/Enmore area on the family property "Hazelgreen" which my parents still have today.
While growing up I attended Armidale High School where I became involved with the Junior Poll Hereford Society. Mr & Mrs Watson lent cattle to myself and three other students under the leadership of Kathy Keys, which allowed us to travel to many shows. This venture led myself and my sister and parents to start a small Poll Hereford Stud, where we showed and exhibited at many shows including The Sydney Royal Show where we were very successful. After finishing school I attended TAFE for a year doing a secretarial course. On completion of this the following year I went to America on a Rural Agricultural Exchange for twelve months. The following two years I returned to America to show cattle for Kevin Jensen in Kansas for six months each year and also Napier in New Zealand for three months. On my return I worked for various other cattle studs including the family farm.
Then in 1999 I applied for a Vet Nursing Position at the Uralla Veterinary Clinic with Bob Franklin and have been there ever since. (I have a cute little cattle dog named Missy that lives at the farm and is very spoilt). My husband Mike and I are proud parents of a new baby boy Cameron John.
I was born in Armidale and have spent all my life around the Armidale and Uralla areas. I went to school in Uralla and then went onto Tafe and completed a secretarial course. I then spent some time working at a service station and then as a teachers aide at the local school. In 1985 I started working at the Uralla Veterinary Clinic and have been there ever since. I worked full time up until I had my first child in 1996, since then I have been working part time. I now have 3 beautiful children, a boy and 2 girls. I live on a 6 acre hobby farm at Invergowrie with my husband Paul and my 3 children Ethan, Tamika and Rachael. My interests include spending time with my family and my large assortment of animals, which include, dogs, cats, miniature ponies, miniature pigs, goats and Dexter cattle.
Amy was born in Moree, where she lived on a sheep and cattle property, sparking her love of animals. She grew up in Toowoomba, Queensland, always with a menagerie of dogs, cats, chooks and fish as family pets. She started working as a Vet Nurse and completed a traineeship in 2007 while she was at school. After working for a few years, Amy and her husband Tim moved down to the cold to attend UNE.
Amy has been working with us since 2010, covering weekends and holidays, and has recently joined the full time ranks as a receptionist. Amy’s animal collection only consists of two cats (Alice and Claudia) due to limited space. Alice is very fiesty when visiting the hospital and also has weight issues. If she thinks that Amy hasn't fed her enough she will eat anything she can find in the fruit bowl, such as tomatoes and zucchini...
I grew up on a farm in Uralla where we had a variety of animals from dogs to horses, cows, ferrets, goats, chickens, a pig and a naughty donkey. Where i gained a love for all animals and an interest in working in the animal care/Veterinary industry.
I went to school at Uralla Central and continued my Vet Nursing studies through NEVC volunteering once a week.
I have been working at NEVC since November 2008 and have completed my Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing, i have studied a course on Grooming and Hydrobathing companion animals and I am currently studying Certificate 3 in Equine Nursing.
My interests include all aspects of equine and small animal nursing, horse riding, sky diving and league tag (NEVC are sponsors for Uralla Tigers Ladies League Tag).
My name is Robbo and I am the clinic cat at Armidale Veterinary Hospital. I was bought in with a badly broken hind leg which wasn’t repairable through surgery so it was amputated. I was also microchipped, de-sexed, vaccinated and wormed (the works). The staff here fell in love with my cheeky, relaxed attitude and decided to keep me. My duties include eating, sleeping, lying in the sun (or in front of my very own heater), and demanding cuddles from anyone I choose. I don't miss my my leg at all (except when I need to scratch myself). I am a much loved and spoilt boy!
Jen Marsh has lived in Uralla her whole life. She started working as a vet nurse in 2006 while finishing her schooling at Duval High. She completed her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2010 and hopes to further her studies and gain more qualifications in the future.
Jen enjoys spending time with her family (husband Nick, kids Bella and Alex), playing hockey, volunteering for the local Rural Fire Brigade and adding to her collection of animals! So far she has 2 dogs, 3 chooks, 5 fish and is soon to get a ferret or two!
